The bullets are the 230 grain Bear Creek coated (encapsulated) lead bullets. I am not looking for stout loads. And as they are not jacketed bullets, I’m not looking for factory duplication loads either.

I would start with 22-grains of 4198 and work it up slowly from there.

Thanks Bert. I’ll try that. I also have a supply of 3031 – any recommendations for that powder?
I have never tried using 3031 powder with cast lead bullets, only for full velocity jacketed bullets.

And as I said, I already have a batch loaded up with 5744.
By the way, Mike Venturino sure writes positively about H4350 for jacketed bullet loads.
Please let me know what you final load ends up being (velocity & accuracy).
