Mike,

Did you read the article that I wrote about the three variations of the Winder Musket?  It contains the answer to your question.  The serial number range is different for each of the three variations.

Bert,

In what issue of the Collector is your article on these?

Bert,

Here is another Winder Musket for your study

134155

22 short

USmarked

We may have a disagreement on some items, but I have to applaud you on the time and research you put in on old Winchesters.

Regards

Walter

Walter,

I see nothing wrong with having an occasional disagreement as long as it stays friendly, and that is what I always try to do. Thank you for the compliment, and Yes, I do spend an inordinate amount of time with my research. As I have previously stated, I will share my research with any WACA member who asks me for it.

Your Model 87 Winder Musket was manufactured and delivered in 1919.

I want to sell my Winchester Winder 22 short (SN 134592) and I live in Denver.  Any advice on were best to sell it?  I don’t really want to ship it anywhere.

Curtis,

Take it to the Denver Gun Show in May of this year. Does it have the “U S” and flaming ordnance bomb stamped on the upper tang behind the hammer?
