Respectfully request your input regarding if the Winchester Company made a 1873 trappers in 16″ and 14″ rifles. I heard of one a friend might be selling soon and would like to know if they did and how someone could tell if it is a true factory manufactured trapper. Moreover, in wanting to learn and gain additional knowledge how could someone spot a true 1892 as well. Thank you for input and help in this matter, it is greatly appreciated. Jack

Jack,

Yes, Winchester manufactured 16″ Trappers, and 14″ Rifles (real rare). The only way to positively determine if they are factory original is to contact the Cody Firearms Museum records office and purchase a factory letter.
