Ed,

The “M” is technically not part of the serial number. Instead, it is a sub model identifier. The s/n 3221158 identifies it as a 1969 production gun.  What specific “paperwork” are you looking for?

Unless your Model 94 44 Mag is still NIB (New In Box), it is highly unlikely that it is worth $2,000.  I suggest that you search Gunbroker and Guns International to see what they are currently selling for.

You can buy this one for $999 – Winchester Model 94 44 Mag 1972 MFG No Rear Sight Good Shape – Lever Action Rifles at GunBroker.com : 1054083509

I agree. I purchased my circa 1968-69 44 Mag (#3206719M) in 2018 for $650.  Insurance valued at $1000, today.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

If you looked it up 7-years ago, it was not truly the “Winchester” website.  Instead, it was most likely the Browning Arms Company “Winchester” division.  They do not have accurate information for any of the Winchester firearms manufactured from 1866 through 1980.

Your Model 94 Magnum has an approximate $1,000 value.
