I know it is mostly the older Winchesters that are talked about here, but I just wanted to put up a few questions about the 7X30 Waters, in case some one might have the answers.
How long was the Model 94 Waters in production?
How many were manufactured?
Were 24 and 20 inch barrels available for the whole run ?If not which would be the rarer?
Look like 85 to 88

Thanks for that nascar fan.A dealer knows where there are some new in box Winchester Model 94 7 X 30 Waters rifles. He knows for sure that some of them have the 20 inch barrel.Thought some might have the 24 inch barrel as well.Thinking I might get one.Just not sure to go with the 20 or the 24 inch barrel if some are 24 inch.
From what I have looked at on the internet the 20 inch 7X30 Waters rifles look the same as the 30-30 carbine complete with only the two barrel bands and no checkering that I can remember seeing. Will have to go look around again and check about the checkering .The 24 inch barrel rifles had the one barrel band plus the magazine tube is dove tailed into the barrel and were checkered.
Been looking through some old Winchester catalogues and this is what I have found about the 7X30 Waters Model 94 according to the catalogues.
First listed in the 1984 catalogue as XTR,AE,24 inch barrel, checkered wood,no front sight ramp.
1989 it is listed as,standard carbine ,no checkering,no front sight ramp and 20 inch barrel.
1990 it is listed as standard carbine,no checkering, front sight ramp and 20 inch barrel.
1993 it is listed as standard carbine,no checkering, front sight ramp,20 inch barrel and cross bolt safety.
1994 not listed in the catalogue.
Could not find any catalogues after 1994.So I do not know if it could have been relisted for a few years after 1994 or not.So it would appear the 24 inch barrel models were made for 5 years, the 20 inch barrel ones without a cross bolt safety 4 years and the 20 inch barrel ones with a cross bolt 1 year.
Not a long production run for any of the versions.Leads one to wonder just how many were manufactured. With the short production run, it would appear they were not that popular and there fore, one would think the numbers produced would be on the low end.
The 20 inch barrel listed only in 1989 with no front sight ramp and the 20 inch barrel listed only in 1993 with the cross bolt safety would seem to be the rarer of any of the 7X30 Model 94 versions.
