I see that there are several knowledgeable folks on here in regards to the model 70’s. My questions are about the “G” series called the classic series I think. When did Winchester start and stop this series, what calibers was this series made in, and what models were made. I have an early model 70 classic 270, Super Grade, serial # G18180, and a feather wt, 7mm-08, serial # G40001. I really like them both especially because of the old claw extractor, and controlled round feed as in the pre-64 model 70’s. If someone had a chart that shows the serial #/DOM for this series, that would be great also. I have tried to research this, but find that there is many different opinions/answers.
