I am bidding on a Winchester Model 1886 Lightweight Lever Action Takedown Rifle in 45-70 with a Nickel Steel Barrel.  The rifle has a full length magazine tube and a 22″ barrel. What value should be placed on this rifle considering the pictures and information provided.

Thank you!

It has already been bid up to more than it’s worth.  Sanded and refinished wood, bluing weak…

Thank you very much for the input.  That is kind of what I thought as well. What was enticing about this one was it early Nickel Steel barrel and full length magazine in a lightweight. Will move on from this one!  Much appreciate the input!

The Nickel Steel barrel is not uncommon on the Extra Light Weight rifles in 45-70. What bothers me about the rifle is that the sights are not original. I agree that the current bid is at the top-end of the scale when you factor in the 21.5% internet buyers premium… $6,075 before shipping and insurance.

Thank you for the input!  Much appreciated!  Will keep looking and keep in mind that the nickel steel barrels in the lightweight rifles are not that uncommon.

Did not catch the issues with the sights.  Thanks for the keen eye!
