In another recent thread, we discussed the relative value of M1892 Deluxe vs. M1894 Deluxe:

We discussed a M1892 .44-40 Deluxe currently offered for sale. I certainly enjoyed the comments and discussion. The same seller of that rifle, also has a M1886 Deluxe. What are the thoughts on that rifle and his asking price?

Here’s another .45-70 takedown pistol grip checkered deluxe. Not identical configuration but many similarities (including high condition, both rifles letter). Is this rifle worth half ($16K) the other one ($32K)?

On the $16k gun from Antique Arms, there is no mention of the checkered pistol grip stock, shotgun butt, or rubber butt. I would stay clear of it for this reason, unless further research proves the letter is not correct.
