OfflineCurious of everyone thoughts and comments on this new listing in GI

OfflineI think the rifle has some light cleaning scratches most visible on the left side. The wood doesn’t fit the receiver like a nib gun should. I dont think I’ve seen that swivel combination on a factory new gun.
This seller has had a lot of suspicious guns for sale. I’m reluctant to consider any of his listings

OfflineI agree with Don, this is a former SDOG package.
The receiver frame has positively been buffed and reblued, and the sling bases are aftermarket items. The box is a fake, as there is no such thing as a Model 94 “Special”.

Bert do you think the box in its entirety is a fake, or just fake by the addition of the “special” stamp…I’m always skeptical of boxes but I’d like to know what some of the smoking guns are, so to speak…

If it is a former SDOG package, the entire box & contents are Fake.

I agree 100% with Bert.
Look at picture 18 and zoom in the recveiver. Original high condition blue looks nothing like that job.
Then look at the abortion of a sling swivel job in picture 12.
This bloke is what we call down here, a wanker.

Y’all will have to school me on what “SDOG” is!
EDIT: I see now….”Seller of Dad’s Old Guns”?
I believe that it was actually short for “Selling Dad’s Old Guns”. He was actually buying the guns at local gun shows and auctions, then adding the fake boxes and other fake documents and items. I reported him to Gunbroker’s admin staff multiple times before he was eventually booted. I sent Gunbroker the URLs to several different auctions where he was the buyer, and then the new listing on Gunbroker with the added boxes and other stuff that he claimed were original to the gun.

To All, I just finished mopping up my thrown up mouth full of beer when I saw this. Putrid, The hatchet job on the rear swivel is….. uhmm, you get the point! the front is nothing more than an old Uncle Mike’s I believe, been seeing them since 1980.
Chris I also believe that you folks have a very not so nice saying for such a person. I use it alot up here in New England. Starts with f and ends with wit.
Hope I don’t get in trouble now!

The only thing I have issue with is your apparent alcohol abuse… a good Marine would have choked down the beer before retching it all over the place

Oh great swabbie how correct you are, but with noone home to perform the Hiemlich I felt it best to drizzle it on the floor. Besides it was only Clydesdale P!@#$. So no great loss. Except I don’t get it for free anymore. LMAO!

OnlineThat rear swivel mount is proof Ray Charles dabbled with gunsmithing in his spare time. It’s good to see creative writing is alive and well in our hobby, I can hardly wait until these fraudsters discover AI. Like everything else I suppose it will bring a whole new dimension to this game. Buckle your seatbelts and pass the popcorn, it’s going to be quite a ride!

OfflineI no nothing about this period of rifles but. Many years ago at the Denver show we saw an 1894 sell for $75,000. Then resell for $100,000. The receiver was polished in 4 very distinct squares. Each in a different direction. I have never ever seen an absolutely new in the box antique in this condition before or since. The wood was almost never handled and actually had wood fuzz that was not rubbed off. The first owner of this rifle had another rifle the year before, I can’t remember the Model, that he sold for $150,000.
