Does anyone know if winchester ever did a matte finish on a winchester model 64 deluxe mine was made around 1938 the complete gun (steel)  is in a matte finish and looks to be factory. Fit and finish of the wood and the matte blue are perfect. Just like the day it was made, thanks for any help. Also can a cozy letter be obtained to show how if left the factory?

Mark,

The Model 64 was not ever made with a matte finish. No, a “Cody” letter can not be obtained, as they do not have the records for the Model 64. Out of curiousity, what caliber is it, what barrel length, and what is the serial number?

Thanks for the information, I have been collecting winchesters for quite sometime and i am pretty good at spotting a refinish. I even had a few people look at it to get there thoughts and we all say it does’nt look like it has ever been touched. but if you couldnt order it that way then someone did one heck of a job on it. I have a couple pics for you to look at if you would like to take a look just let me know how to get them to you.
