Hello and thank you for the forum. This is my first post. I live in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. In our area we have limited resources for questions like I have.
I have a 38-56 Winchester Model 1886. Serial number 38456. I believe it to be in good co diction other than it is missing the rear sight and I believe the tube was cut at one point. Barrel looks to be in good condition.
The only reference I’ve came across that would give me an idea of value is The Gun traders Guide.
I’m wondering if anybody on here could point me in the right direction. I would be interested in selling the rifle.
Could somebody point me in the right direction to find a real value and where to sell?
Thanks,
Clayton
Hello Clayton,
I would not classify an old Winchester with missing & altered parts as being in “good” condition. That stated, we really need to see several clear detailed pictures of the rifle to evaluate it. As a non WACA member (Guest), you will need to post a link to a photo host website that contains your pictures. Direct upload is limited to members only.

Bert,
Thank you for the response. I guess I was using good condition as a general term besides what’s missing. In your world “good condition” probably has a very defined meaning. That’s why I am asking the questions. I have plenty of pictures but I’m not savvy with them. I do not have another website to post them at.
I appreciate your time!
Clayton
