Hello everyone,
My name is Andrew and this is my first post on any firearm forum and would love some help with my question regarding a Winchester 1895 manufactured in 1915. It is carbine length and chambered in 30-06. The questions I have are 1) Whether the old Kings buckhorn rear sight is original and 2) Whether this rifle came from the factory without the wooden top hand guard. If picture are needed just let me know thanks!
Andrew
Hello Andrew,
Welcome to the WACA Site,
Yes, pictures tell a thousand words and would help immensely,
As for no top Hand Guard, does the For-end of the Stock have the 4 (four) cuts, 2 (two on each side) in it for the spring clips of the top hand guard to fit into?
The rear Buckhorn Sight, Originality, I imagine it’s dovetailed onto the barrel, Look for 2 (two) drilled holes that would have held the original Military sight onto the barrel, they might be under the Buckhorn sight.
