Hello,
Recently I checked out an 1895 SRC chambered in .303. SN: 64XXX
I was looking at the markings and found the word “CON” hand stamped on top of the bolt and also on the tang. I’ve looked online for quite a while now and haven’t seen anything on it.
The rifle itself seems set up weird.. SRC, but it has a military rear sight graduated out to 1800 yards (or meters?)
Just trying to figure out the story behind this gun.
Thanks again.

Here is the link to all the pictures I have of it. Full serial # in pics as well
If you guys need anything else let me know, thanks again.

Nice carbine, that is the correct sight, it may have had a handguard or not, do you have a pic of top of barrel? If it has a cut out on sides of forearm for clips to hold handguard. I to have not seen that stamp CON. If the price is right, a nice carbine to add to collection

Unfortunately those are all the pictures I have at the moment. I do not remember seeing those cuts, though I could be wrong.

The handguard cut is shown in the second picture. I do not know what the “CON” stamped markings signify.

Oh okay I see the cuts now, so it’s missing an upper handguard then? Or could it have never been installed?

The handguard is missing, as is the saddle ring. The handguards frequently cracked and were subsequently discarded.

Bert, if you don’t mind can you explain or point out the cuts that signify the handguard was installed. Some came from the factory without handguards installed? I’m a noobie and also have a 95 with an obvious replacement handguard.

See the attached picture. The circled area shows the handguard clip slot cut into the forend stock.
