I have a friend who was looking for some information on his Winchester 1895 Lever action chambered in 405. He gave me a serial number of 00821MV95A which didn’t make sense to me, could be he read it wrong or it is very unique? I asked a gun smith and he said the MV95A could be special markings and/or indicate where it was manufactured. He said it is in excellent condition with maybe some minor pitting on the barrel. I’ll be getting a look at the gun this Friday and can give more info on it then. Until then any ideas on the goofy serial number, Mfg. timeframe, and possibly the value?

What your friend has is a modern reproduction of the original Winchester Model 1895, most likely manufactured by Miroku in Japan.
