We recently had a customer bring in a Model 1894 to be cleaned and maintained. The Serial Number 334262 reveals that it was manufactured in 1905. The rifle is in unbelievable condition given that it is well over 100 years old. Bore is bright and without rust or pitting. We were hoping you could give us an idea of the value of this rifle.
Thank you,

I can’t answer to the value of your Winchester, but I do have a question.
What does your statement mean? Does “condition” have a scale that improves a gun’s rating according to its age? Given a 1900 rifle and a 1950 rifle that are well used and in equally (exact) sorry condition, the 1900 rifle can be rated as being in “unbelievable condition” while the 1950 rifle is a “beater”?
When I see that idea, linking condition to age in a description of a Winchester that is for sale, it says to me that the seller is promoting a rifle that is NOT in “unbelievable condition,” rather, the rifle is often in well-used condition and can be corroded, damaged, sanded, etc.
