I have a Winchester 1892 44-40 short rifle in 20″  tapered barrel with correct markings. It has been reblued, but no matter.  The serial Number is 700,xxx. Will the Cody museum be able to give me a factory letter stating the barrel configuration.

No, they will not. The factory ledger records for the Model 1892 end at 377,999.

Thanx very much, I have a saddle ring button magazine in 32-20 in the 348,000 range. Maybe I will get lucky and be able to get it certified. Seems it is quite rare if it is authentic.
