A friend was showing me his old model 1892 in 25-20 cal. He is interested in selling it and wanted me to make an offer. The gun serials to 1906. The stock has lots of issues.I’ll post some pictures I took with my cell phone. Kind of low budget photo’s. He said he was offered $700.00 from a LGS. Tell me what you think
I would treat that rifle as a shooter with no collectors’ value. It’s not just the stock that has problems, the metal is pretty much zero blue left on it. It has been well used. For a shooter, $700 is way too much. I would check the bore just forward of the chamber. If it is rough, you will have to use jacketed bullets. Even then, it might be a frustrating job to try and get decent accuracy. If it were me, and I just wanted something to take care of varmints, I don’t think I’d want to pay more than $100 for it.
