First off this rifle has a saddle ring, carbine stock, the forearm is about 9 1/4 inch all the wood has the same amount of wear which is a lot looks like it was on carried on a saddle plus it has a 18 inch barrel there has been a couple people that have looked at it and said that it must be a cut down rifle because the forearm is to long? so I sent off for a letter and it arrived today not much information other than it said serial number applied Oct. 1900, received at warehouse August 1902 and shipped from warehouse September 1902, Carbine 44, any thoughts on this?
According to the letter it should be a standard 20″ carbine. If the letter does not state the length its standard for the time.
