hello, i just scored a winchester 43 in 32-20 number 1992 with matching bolt. it has a good clean bore and rifling. sadly it was drilled for a scope but shows signs of a peep sight. it has a trigger slipper on it. is this a factory part? also has a barrel shim near the front screw, is that factory? its missing the rear sight and front hood and wonder if you know the correct part and how far along it was the same.
Is it marked “32-20 WIN.” or just “32 WIN.”?
What is a “trigger slipper” ? Can you send me pictures of this rifle to include the shim and trigger slipper ?

Well, if you bought it to shoot, I don’t think that’s a calamity, especially if the price reflected this modification.
I’d bet what you’re calling a “slipper” is what’s ordinarily called a trigger shoe; though slipper actually seems more descriptive.
All 43s were D&T for a Lyman 57A receiver sight, but only the “deluxe” version came equipped with it. Is your stock checkered, with a PG cap? That’s the upgraded version.

did it before lmk if you have them..
OK, I went and checked m email and found your pictures. You have a standard grade Model 43 Rifle, the trigger shoe (slipper) is not factory original. Contrary to what Clarence stated, a Lyman No. 57A peep sight was an optional sight on both the Standard and Special rifles (it was not exclusive to just the Special). Based of the modifications made to your Model 43, it is primarily a “shooter” grade rifle.
