Steve,
At the time I put together the information database to create the DOM look-up tables for the WACA website, I did not have any information resource for the Model 54. Further, neither the CFM records office or Pauline Muerrle has the factory Polishing Room records for the Model 54. Accordingly, the best source of information is found on the bottom of the barrel of each individual rifle… take the barreled action out of the stock and look for the 2-digit year number stamped on the bottom of the barrel rifle right next to the receiver frame. Production of the Model 54 began in April 1925 and it ended in late 1936 (with a few hundred parts clean-up rifles assembled through 1939).
George Madis published the following year ending serial numbers, but I do not trust his numbers to be accurate.
1925 | 3140 |
1926 | 8052 |
1927 | 14178 |
1928 | 19590 |
1929 | 29108 |
1930 | 32504 |
1931 | 36737 |
1932 | 38550 |
1933 | 40780 |
1934 | 43475 |
1935 | 47134 |
1936 | 49938 |
1937* | 50025 |
1938* | 50075 |
1939* | 50100 |

Awesome Burt. 1926 when I looked.
Steve,
Please consider adding your Model 54 rifle to the survey that my friend Marc Murphy has taken over from David Bichrest (now deceased).
