Hello Jim,
It was announced in the January 1938 Winchesters Salesman catalog. That stated, Winchester assembled a few parts clean-up rifles pre-WW II, and at least one special order rifle in 1952. The information you may have read in the past (in G. Madis’ books) about the Model 94 “Rifle” being discontinued in 1924 is not accurate information. I just recently published an article where I specifically discuss the actual production dates for the 26-inch rifles.
