I’m using Sierra 90gn with a2400
Thanks for your input. I just took a look at that bullet. I really like the looks of it.
Anyone use the Hornady XTP?
I was had hoped that you would get some answers. I have a box of XTPs that I need to try. I have a javalina hunt and plan to try them. Been thinking about starting with 2400.
I have used XTPs in my 38 WCF and love them. Accurate and very effective on deer and antelope.

I really like a cannelure on a jacketed bullet for an older cartridge. Am I just being old-fashioned? It looks like the XTP bullet does not have one in either .32 or .40 caliber.

All the XTP’s I have on hand have a cannelure. I use this bullet for silhouette competition, and it works very very well in my ’92 chambered for 32-20. A2400 is my powder of choice, and the charge is somewhere between 8 and 10 grains….. meaning, start at 8 and work up. 🙂

I also feel the cannalure is needed. I have a Corbin cannalure tool and it takes a bout two seconds to add the cannalure.Dominic
I have the C&H tool, and it is a real handy thing to have. I can get pulled jacketed/plated 10mm bullets real cheap for use in my 38-40’s, but they have no cannelure. Without a cannelure, crimping is iffy and I was experiencing bullet set-back. Adding a cannelure with the tool solved that issue, and now the bullets stay put.

Thanks for the information. I did find a .32 XTP bullet with a cannelure However, I could not find one in .40 calilber. Am I missing it?

Sorry – I don’t know about the .40 caliber but 10mm handgun bullets work well in my 38-40, so maybe if you found some of those with the suitable profile and weight that have a cannelure?

Are we talking .32 or .40 caliber? Either way I cast for them but I’m secretly a big fan of the XTP bullet.
