Such an abused gun. Even has tape for a barrel band.Buy it if you want an expensive conversation piece; otherwise, run away!
If you are thinking of shooting it for more than the noise factor, why would you spend your money on this one? …tape barrel band, non-original trashed butt-stock, cracked and never oiled fore-stock, broken upper tang, etc,…neglected to the extent that all previous owners have brought bad Karma upon themselves! (just kidding about the Karma) (maybe)
You can easily find a better gun for that money.
Hey. I hunted with an NDN friend of mine and was with him when he shot a huge black bear with a model 64. The forend was held on with black electrical tape. Didn’t matter to the bear.
Shoot low boys. They're riding Shetland Ponies.
Yes, Old Logger, I understand that “charactered” guns do kill game. I have posted photos of my beautifully ugly character rifle…I do love it. No tape on it though, and even with the rough life it has had, folks took care of it. The bore is excellent, and it shoots quite accurately. Also said to be a ranch gun, and appears to have been under a horse more than once. Bought it as a parts gun. The sights on it were worth more than I paid for it. But, it grew on me, so its parts are staying in place.
But the rifle pictured in this thread has seen little care. It is a waste of that fellow’s money.
And my Grandpa was a cowboy, and my Dad was a logger, and I grew up with hunting-Winchesters and had no money to toss away…but what the heck does that matter!
