I doubt there were many made in this exact configuration. Certainly an unusual configuration for someone to order. Neat that it is a .44-40. Also the fact that it was made during the letterable serial number range is quite the plus.

Shame about the butt being altered but I suspect that made it a better shooter for someone along the way. Interesting, indeed.

You can even see the shadow of where the Lyman peep wight was on the tang. The rear sight was placed closer to the receiver than is standard and the caliber stamp moved to the left side of the barrel when it is typically on the top in this SN range.
