Hello, I’m interested in the value of this rifle?

Not sure of the caliber. It belonged to my grandfather and I understand it was made pre 1900.

Winchester 1894, Serial number 147975, original condition, fair condition (no bluing left, wood chipped a bit), octagon barrel

Thank you!

The caliber is marked on the top flat of the barrel behind the rear sight.

Model 1894 serial number 147975 is not a pre 1900 production rifle… instead, it was manufactured in May, 1902.

I don’t have access to it now. I found a box of old hunting rounds which I think was used with the rifle, it says 25-20 cal. But I understand there were no 20-25 cal rifles made?

Any estimation of the value anyway ?

Thank you.

The Model 1894 was offered & manufactured in the 25-35 WCF cartridge.  The 25-20 WCF was made for the Model 1892.

You have not yet told us what specific cartridge your Model 1894 is chambered for.  Tell us what is marked on the barrel.  Until you do that, no value estimate can be provided.
