My grandfather bought this model 94 .30-30 Winchester second hand, and my dad gave it to me just a couple years ago. I personally don’t find it comfortable to shoot, and while it’s a cool gun, I am going to sell or trade it for something that I’ll be more comfortable shooting. I have attempted to identify it based on its features but the more I dig the more I am confused about the whole package. At this point I am starting to believe that the stock was replaced at one point.
I realize the front sight hood is missing. Not sure if that helps with ID but I know it devalues the whole gun. The butt plate is metal and horizontally grooved. I have tried to include good pictures for ID but if you have any other questions let me know. I am really stumped trying to positively ID what this gun is exactly.
Serial Number is 1315732, which appears to be made around 1942.
As a non WACA member, you need to put your pictures on a photo host website, and then put a link to them here. If you cannot do that, send the pictures to me at [email protected]
The serial number does identify it as a January 1942 production Model 94.

The bluing looks original, and the numerals and lettering appears to be original. The only issue that I see is the non-factory checkered stocks. That stated, I would like to see pictures taken outdoors in natural light.

Appologize for the late reply, hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.
Here are some closer pictures of the receiver and the front end of the barrel. Tried to get good pics of spots where there is wear and tear, since I think it might help reveal whether or not the finish has been restored. The sun was so dang bright today it was either pick a spot with full sun or dark shade, so if I need to take another pic with less severe natural light let me know.

In my collection, I have # 1,327,444 with a PR date of 4-1942. Outside of the checkering, your rifle is near identical to mine. WHY in the WORLD would you want to get rid of your GPA’s carbine, a gun that also belonged to your FATHER !!!! I would KILL to get a couple of the guns my Dad had when I was a KID. BIG LARRY
OK, the latest pictures clearly show that the bluing is factory original. The only issues are the aftermarket checkering of the stocks, and the missing front sight hood. Unfortunately, the value took a significant hit when the stocks were altered. Realistically, it is worth approximately $750.
