I have a group of Winchesters, would like to post here, but cannot seem to figure out how to include pictures……. The one I acquired today is a Model 1892, in 25-20 WCF, Saddle Ring Carbine, with a 16″ barrel. In pretty nice shape. Were 1892’s with 16″ barrels considered Trappers ?

I would say yes, but remember, “Trapper” is a term that collectors came up with. Winchester didn’t use that term.
If you’re a guest, you can use an outside photo hosting site, or e-mail your photos to a member here and they will post them. I’m a member, but I find it easier to use a (free) photo hosting site. I use Imgur.
Rikkin,
You can send me photos of the 1892 and I will happily post them for you. [email protected] As noted the “trapper” nomenclature is purely a collectors term. The term coming from idea/fantasy that a person running a trap line would carry a shortened barrel rifle to conserve weight. But why not just carry a pistol then? If you are dispatching leg hold animals at 10 feet it would be just as useful and lighter.
