C’mon, surprise us with a buy of one!!!
I’m currently looking a couple, that might fire you up a little, just not in those great calibers that you mention, and like!

Tony –

It wouldn’t have to be a .32 WS or a .33WCF for me – as I mentioned above a .500 or .577 Eley would be of interest.  Ideally, with a shotgun butt Wink

It always amazed me as, to how many different calibers, we’re actually used in the M-1885  S.S. Rifle. Bert does a great job in his very informative Winter 2021 Article, in the Collector magazine.

Steve,

Even a 25-20, which would be a rare find, would be a caliber that you would enjoy! If you’ve never shot a M-1885 S.S. Rifle, in any caliber, you don’t know what you’re missing! Smile

Tony –

As I think of it, I never have fired a Winchester S.S. rifle.  As you suggest, I likely very much would enjoy shooting one in .25-20. Likely much more than a .577 Eley!  I would prefer one in .25-20 WCF vs. .25-20 SS as I already load for that cartridge and very much enjoy shooting it.

Interesting! I was surprised to see so many bids on this item. Interesting information in the description.

Back to that glaring deficiency in your Winchester rifle collection I agree that the 25-20 would be a great addition in your case even though Bert might advocate for the SS chambering. For similar reasons I’ve long thought it would be nice to have one in 32WCF. Maybe someday. I only have a few Single Shots but given the seemingly endless variety they are quite interesting.

It’s not like I don’t have Winchesters in .25-20 chambering – I do – in both rifle and carbine versions.  I could also bring up the “M” brand here as well.  But yes, I have no single-shots in .25-20.  However, sometimes I do single load my lever repeaters – does that count?

Steve-

IF we were keeping score I think it would earn at least partial credit. Since we’re NOT keeping score I’ll concede there is a hole in my collection where a 25-20 should be. I think you’d enjoy embarking on the SS journey even if I should feel guilty about nudging you towards that rabbit hole. But as a seasoned enabler I doubt I’ll feel even a twinge of guilt.

Visions of Anthony’s SS are going to cause me to lose some sleep tonight. I have no real interest in a Schuetzen rifle or the 38EX but that rifle made my day. Thanks again, Anthony.

All this talk about the 25-20 reminds me that I have another 50 empty cases that need to be reloaded.  I have some 60-gr Hornady JHP, 70-gr Sierra JPT, and 86-gr cast gas checked bullets… now to decide which to loadConfused

Maybe you need more empty cases!

I have an original box of WRACo NPE (still sealed) that I could always open and load Wink

Seriously, I have a working supply of (220) 25-20 S.S. cases, and shooting (50) cartridges at a time in a Single Shot rifle is a several hour event.
