STAIN FOR A 74 WINCHESTER MODEL 94 I REPAIRED A SMALL DENT AND SCRATCH ON THE BOTTEM OF THE STOCK AND COULD NOT FIND A STAIN TO MATCH I DO FURNITURE REPAIR AND HAVE ABOUT 25 QUARTS OF STAIN, NONE  MATCHED, I ORDER THREE GUN STAINS AND THEY DID NOT MATCH.  WALKING TO THE SHOP ONE MORNING I REMEMBERED I HAD SOME STAIN I USED TO USE.  I TRIED SAMPLES OF FOUR CAN AND  ONE WAS MINWAX RED MAHOGANY AND TO MY SURPRISE IT MATCHED. I HAD A SMALL LIGHT SPOT AND I MIXED A LITTLE STAIN WITH TRU OIL AND BLENDED IT THE LIGHT SPOT. IT WORKED FOR ME .

I usually mix mahogany with a walnut stain.  It’s a trial and error thing.

When posting in all capital letters some consider this yelling, usually because you are made or trying to make a point.

If so, I missed the point.  Sometimes see the same very irritating thing in ebay listings.

Good to know, newer guns seem to have a different tint sometimes. Maybe a bit more opaque, never quite figured it out. Most of us don’t hear very well but we save the yelling for when we meet.

It’s like being at the range with electronic muffs and the guy next to you is yelling all the time.
