Has anyone any knowledge of Winchester making a “smooth bore” model 1894 ( pre 64) ? A fellow on a Facebook group claims he has a 94 smooth bore but the barrel is stamped 30 WCF ? Ever heard of such a thing?

I think it is very very unlikely.  The ARMAX survey of M1894’s (serial number up to around 350,000) shows six .38-55 smooth bores, one .32 Special smooth bores and one .32-40 smooth bore (many of these were part of a two-barrel set).  I don’t believe there were any .30-30’s listed.  I suppose it is possible a .30-30 could have been made beyond the survey serial number range.  One key would be to take the forend off and look at the barrel stamping on the under side of the barrel.
