I have a 1894 Winchester src,s/n 136935.

My question is the winchestercollect has the manufactured date of 1901

Winchester web site says the date of 1898, which one is right.

Thanks

Bill,

The so called “Winchester” website is owned by Browning, which is a subsiderary of FN Herstal.  The serial number data they have for all of the older Winchester models on their website was copied from George Madis’.

Model 1894 serial number 136935 was manufactured December 31st, 1901.  If you contact the CFM research office, they can provide you with a factory letter that will list that as the serial number application date, and the received in warehouse date will most likely be sometime early in the year 1902.

Bert,I faxed a form to CFM research office to get a factory letter for 1894 rifle,I also

wanted a factory letter on several more of my rifles.

They e-mailed me back and said it will take about 4 wks for the letters.

Thanks
