Q1 winchester short rifle stamped with a hornet or wasp called the stinger. I thought I remembered seeing it in the Madison book but can’t find it. It was 1892 short rifle  in 32-20 with a octagon barrel.it was shipped to Australia.

Shipped (sold) to Perry Brothers Ltd. Australia… Winchester exported at least several thousand guns to them, and applied the marking you see on the barrel (a Wasp with a big stinger).

Hello Michael,

There were several retailers who had Winchester rifles specially marked before they were sold by them at their home location.  The Stinger is one in Australia the other common one found is marked “Daisy Rifles”  Can I get the serial number of the rifle that you are asking about so that I can add it into my survey of the 1892’s?

You can either just post the serial number on this forum or send me information to my email at [email protected]
