This is a decent rifle but not what I would call collector condition.  Actually, I like the condition.  But it has made some big jumps recently.  Ends in a few hours.  I wonder how high it will go.

I think we’ll see another bid or two.

I was wrong. If that sight letters I think the buyer did well.

It would be nice if the receiver sight lettered but I believe it is outside the letterable range.  It sold for more than I thought it would.  Not that I am putting the rifle down, I would certainly enjoy owning it.  However, given my general preference for a shotgun butt, I would particularly prefer a shotgun butt on a .405.

I think the sight played a role in the higher price, along with the seller. I honestly don’t think I’d shoot it enough to hold out for a shotgun butt but I agree it would be somewhat more comfortable. I’m encouraged to see a gun in this condition doing well on an auction site. Normally we seem to be seeing only high condition guns doing this well.

Mike – I too, was heartened to see it sell for the price it sold for.  Clearly, many active collectors out there have not allowed themselves to be beaten down by the myriad of external stresses and uncertainties floating around.
