I was feeling wistful this morning and thinking about a M1894 SRC I let go years ago – probably 40 years ago.  It was a .25-35, plain in all respects except for special order side mounted swivels (like the so-called, “Belgian Congo” carbine swivels).  I have never seen another carbine with these swivels.  When I let it go, I scarcely realized I’d never see another.  Maybe I’ll feel better when you all respond with something to the effect of, “oh, I have several”).  So, what is our experience with this special order feature?  Does anyone here have one?  Anyone have photos of one?  Anyone have the one I had?

Steve,

I have never seen them on a commercial sales Model 1894 SRC.  The French Contract (WW I) Model 1894 Carbines had them.

Bert –

Thank you for your reply.  Unfortunately, my wistfulness is even stronger.  I am that confident the carbine was the real deal.  By the way, I previously had a French contract 1894 SRC in my collection.

Steve,

Do you remember what the serial number was on it?

I sure wish I did.  But I don’t even know if it was in the letterable range or not.  But, someone must have it somewhere.  Maybe somewhere here knows the person that has it.
