I remember us discussing this gun (and seller) not long ago….the caliber stamping in particular. Confused

Barring a hands-on inspection of that 20″ Deer Rifle, I currently have it documented as (1) of the (12) known authentic Model 64 38-55 rifles, and it is one of just three 20″ rifles.

You consider this one to be authentic?

It is possible that it is.  I really need to see (inspect) the factory markings on the underside of the barrel to be sure.  The actual manufacture date for that rifle is March 1939.  If it has a “37” or earlier date stamp on the bottom of the barrel the odds increase on it being authentic.

I remember the seller as he has a remarkable number of questionable items but I didn’t remember this gun

If I came across this gun being sold, and if it’s real, I’d definitely miss out on it.  There’s nothing that looks right to me about it.  Probably why I almost never find really rare items.

Yeah, could have been a different gun of course…I feel like we discussed that caliber stamping but it all runs together.
