The 1904 and 1925 Winchester catalogs list “Nickel Plating (Plated) Trimmings” as a rifle extra. I have a Model 1892 (s/n 829608) with nickel plating on the butt plate, lever, trigger, hammer, bolt, barrel band, fore end cap and magazine cap (pictures below). Does the plating of these items comprise the Nickel Plating extra?
Thanks,
John
Generally nickel trim and 1/2 nickel were the same thing, which meant that the receiver was nickeled and the barrel and tube were blue. But in your case the nickel was put on after it left the factory.
