I have a late model M 85, coil spring, low wall with shot gun butt. You have it in your system Bert.

But it has a broken knock off spring and even though it functions all right I have given up trying to get a new one ( I am in New Zealand which complicates things ) and have made a new one.

JM Browning was a clever designer who was famous for keeping things simple but what was his thinking regards the knockoff, what does it add to the trigger system?

Knockoff wasn’t Browning’s idea, but William Mason’s, who redesigned the mechanism for WRA.  If you can find Browning’s 1879 pat. online (#220271), you’ll see the difference.
