What is the correct configuration for a model 70 mannlicher?

I have seen both smooth barrels and iron sight versions.

Was this an option? 

Did the configuration change during production?

Gun digest from 1970-1972 shows a smooth barrel. I have seen several early examples (1968) that have iron sights and a smooth bolt.
