I have seen this item re-list several times with little interest. It has a couple issues as replaced triggers and lower tang, also extra tapped holes in barrel for scope blocks, but generally looks good

Bert : would the Stevens -Pope stamped barrel also hold it back ?What else am I missing ?

Phil,

While it may have a Pope barrel on it now, I am relatively certain that Harry Pope had no hand in building that rifle. Somebody else put it together many years later. The stocks identify it as a “Special Single Shot Rifle” versus a “Schuetzen Rifle”.  The palm rest is amateur work. With it being a totally reworked rifle, the Pope barrel adds very little to the value.  I personally would not have paid anything close to price it sold for.
