Terry,
Someones attempt to copy a 1 of 1000. Why did they put a plastic shotgun butt plate on it where a crescent butt should of been used.

These rifles were apparently made by Winchester in a very limited run of 25. As far as a re-creation of the original 1 of 1000 goes, it’s a very nice attempt. However, I agree 100% with Bob, regarding the buttstock. Why would they go to all the trouble of making a reproduction of these famous rifles, then fall off the deck by fitting them with a shotgun butt with plastic butt plate. Takes all the fun out of owning one, as far as I’m concerned.
Good point Terry, I don’t see anything saying one way or another.

Description is a bit ambiguous but they don’t claim it’s an original and (almost) anyone who understands what 1/1000 means will know it’s a reproduction. Serial number makes it pretty clear. Appears to be laser engraved but overall an attractive bit of eye candy.

Terry, This is a foreign reproduction of a One of One Thousand, properly marked as such. The description and barrel address make that clear. The engraving is not hand done to the original depth, size, and some deviations from the original. This is clearly not a attempt to make a fake. This type of repro is not appealing to me, it’s foreign made. I’m sure there is a market at a modest price, but it’s not me. T/R
As has been stated, that is a Miruko made (Japan) modern reproduction. I have one of the plain jane models that I use as a shooter. Very well made as all Miruko guns are, it is not a direct copy of an original 1873. More like stand back 10 feet and it looks like an 1873. In any case, it’s fun to shoot a “Winchester” 1873 that is a modern gun.
I paid $1499 for the pistol grip, case hardened one I found. I hope whom ever bought this one enjoys it.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays to all.
I call myself a collector as it sounds better than hoarder
