Recently acquired an old Noske scope—is there any interest out there for such a relic? Scope is complete and functional in fair to good condition condition. Not marked as to power but I would guess 1.5x or 2.5x. Has a post reticle with no crosshair.  is surprisingly clear considering its age.

Was in a side mount on an 1895 takedown in 30-06.  The mount is possibly Noske’s brand also—but also not well marked.

Chime in with any input.

Thanks

PH

Thanks Chuck—I have enjoyed uncovering another bit of history. The optics have certainly progressed in the last 90-100 years.

Noske produced high quality optics & mounts beginning in the 1920’s.  Winchester offered offset scope mounts during that timeframe.  Can you post pics of your setup?  Griffin & Howe used Noske mounts & scopes early on. Ultimately, G&H developed their own detachable mount (very similiar to Noske), they even offered to change out customers Noske mounts to the “new” Griffin & Howe mount system at a discount.   As far as value, I’ve sold Noske scopes in excellent condition for over $400.

Thanks for the reply Ben. In my attempt to ID the scope I disassembled it from the mount.

Whenever I get out a screwdriver women and children should run for cover.

However the scope came out in good condition but the mount—-not so much.  I didn’t ruin it but may have marred it up a bit. There are no visible trademarks or brand names on either the scope or the mount.

It was a “Well” attached side mount on an otherwise beautiful model 95 Takedown (1922 vintage 30/06) — 3 threaded holes and 2 pressed in pins. “Rock of Gibraltar” solid mount.

A properly installed Lyman 21 would likely “hide” most if not all of the unfortunate D and T scars.

I’ll have a chance to post some pictures maybe tomorrow.  PH
