I have a M1873 SRC .44-40 that is nickel plated. I had somehow missed it when I was lettering my pieces. Anyway, about five weeks ago I sent off for a letter and it arrived the other day. I opened the envelope and quickly scanned the letter – there was one word I was eagerly searching for… and there is was: Nickel. I was very pleased.
Here’s the carbine along with another special order carbine I have:
Steve,
Definitely special order when they are in and out the same day.

I have the 15″ trapper that is nikeled . I don’t think it makes them handsome but it sure do make’em special. Does the rifle stock on the other one letter?
Henry – I agree on the nickel appearance. My attraction to the nickel on this carbine has everything to do with the rarity. And on the other one, yes, it does letter with a rifle butt. A rare feature on a carbine and for that, I like it. But as many here know about me, the rifle butt is my least favorite of all the buttplates – on any Winchester.
