While I was escaping the cold weather in Montana, I hit all the collectors shows I could find. I went to Las Vegas in January and Durant, Oklahoma in February and got a couple nice Model 1894’s in 25-35 and 32-40 in takedown configurations. I shot them both and they shoot great. I did even shoot a gopher yesterday with the 32-40…

Are they in the letterable range?  If so, can you post existing letters or do you intend to get letters on these, which you can post?

The 25-35 came with a yellow sheet and is correct right down to the sights.

Can you post it?  What about the .32-40?  Both are great finds!

Based on the look of the bluing on the lower rifle (32-40 ?) in your pictures, it appears to be a 1918 (or later) production Take Down Sporting Rifle.  Please send me the s/n on that rifle.

The lever and hammer on the .32-40 appear to be case coloured.  By 1918, weren’t theee blued?

Not necessarily.  I have found Winchesters with cased levers. hammers, and breech blocks as late as 1919.

Cool that they are both takedowns.  If it were me, to have any chance of hitting that gopher, I would have needed to used the tang-sighted rifle.

Nice scores! Good to see you in Durant. Did you find anything at that show?

I love the 25-35 with the plain walnut checkered pistol grip stock!

Now I’m wondering why I didn’t escape the cold Montana weather and go to a few out of state gun shows…

Beautiful pair. I love the “semi-deluxe” checkered pistol grip stocked Winchesters with “plain” walnut. And the 32-40 has some lovely grain pattern in the buttstock!
