I’ve recently purchased a 94 # 497XX,, Its a reblu .  My question is its a 32 Win Spec and it also has : winchester proof steel ” as the bottom line in the roll mark.  is it a re barrel?  Bands are radius and not flat as well.

Thank you Folks

Yes, unfortunately it is a rebarrel. The partial serial number you mention identifies it as an 1898 production Model 1894. Winchester did not introduce Proof Steel barrels for the Model 94 until mid-year 1932. If you pull the magazine tube and forend stock off of your gun, it will most likely have a 2-digit year number stamped on the bottom of the barrel in the concave milled area next to the receiver frame. The flat front barrel bands were only used in the years 1946-1948.
