Hi All,
I’m researching certain M70 match rifles for articles I plan to write for the Winchester Collector. If anyone can help with information regarding the following, it would be greatly appreciated:
1. Serial numbers of 1968 Palma Match M70s
2. Serial numbers of M70 International Army Match rifles in caliber .30-’06 Springfield. They were cataloged in the 1970s as available on a “special order only” basis in caliber .308, but I’m aware of several in .30-’06 in addition to the one pictured on page 325 of Roger Rule’s book. I think it’s likely there are others that I’m not aware of.
3. Documentation of the requirement that the U.S. provide ISU-compliant “standard” rifles for competitors wishing to use one at the 40th World Shooting Championships in 1970 in Phoenix, AZ.
FYI, I wrote an article on the three M70 Palma Match rifles (1968, 1971, and 1976) which will be published in the Spring issue of the Winchester Collector, to be mailed out in mid-April.
Again, thank you for your assistance!
