Model 70 257 Roberts question

Hi all,
I recently picked up a model 70 in 257 Roberts. According to the serial number it was manufactured in 1992. However, that cartridge has been offers since 1985, except for a limited run for Cabelas about 10 years ago. Would anyone know how this gun came to be? Maybe it’s a shot show special? I’m very curious about what I have. Thanks!
