Chris,

The magazine tube retaining ring is not original.  It was apparently installed to add the sling stud.

Thanks Bert , I thought it looked too big in diameter compared to the size of the magazine tube . I just through 930 plus tax from a Cabela’s gun library , hope I paid a fair price for it ?

What is the serial number on that standard Model 64 rifle?

Serial number is 1146000 , I think it’s date of manufacture was 1937 by one search I did .

I’m wondering if I should try to find a period correct retaining ring and lose the swivels or just leave it as is ?

Thanks Bert  , one search I did said 1941 and Cabela’s said 1938 , but they also said it had a 26″ barrel and a plastic butt pad . The guy I talked to confirmed it was a 24″ barrel and the steel butt plate .
