Generic question ???
How rare or unusual are the short barreled (20 inch) variations of the Model 64? I don’t see them often. Some of you attend the big gun shows — I spend a lot of time of time internet shopping and hit our little shows here in Oregon but seldom see model 64s in any form much less short barreled and never a 25-35. Looks like they are a fairly scarce commodity.
May have located one—just looking to get some informed feedback Thanks PH

OfflinePaul,
Of the 3,860 Model 64 rifles I have documented thus far in my survey, 552 of them are the 20-inch variant. They make up 14.3% of the total production, with an extrapolated total production of 9,550 20-inch rifles. Of that total, just 995 of them were made in 25-35 WCF.
Of the four standard calibers produced in the Model 64, the 25-35 WCF is the least common. The extrapolated total production for the 25-35 WCF caliber is just 3,175 Model 64 rifles (20 & 24 Inch, Standard & Deer).
What is the serial number on the rifle you have located?

OfflineOk Bert Thanks for your research and sharing your info.
1566530 is what ive been told. Haven’t seen it yet.
Of course it was owned by a little old lady who kept it in a heated garage and only drove it to church on Sundays.
Will share more info—if it actually finds a new home here. PH

OfflineThanks again Bert —haven’t had my hands on it yet—will report back with my findings.
Wouldn’t be the first wild goose I have chased.
You never know what you might turn up.
An authentic 25-35 in a 64 with the 20 inch barrel would certainly be a “find”.
Or at least fairly “rare”. PH
