Model 53 is grouped with model 92 in the “when was my winchester made” serial look up section. The serial number of my model 53 in 44wcf is 470. According to the serial look up my gun was made in 1892. I know that is incorrect. Matter of fact the barrel has a 25 stamped on the bottom meaning 1925. Is there a separate serial look up section for the model 53 only?

According to the Red Book your 53 was serialized in 1924. Serial numbers were merged with the 1892’s in late September 1927 after SN 10874, again according to the Red Book.

Thanks Mike. Serialized in 1924. Guess that makes sense with the 1925 barrel.

Late August 1924.  Yes, we need a separate table for both the early Model 53s and Model 55s rifles.,
