OfflineHello all. Neighbor buddy just got through cleaning out a garage up on Cobb Mountain and found a few guns in the mess. One pls Steven’s Marksman Model 12 in .22 LR, and a Remington 513 Matchmaster in .22 LR. But the coolest is a Winchester Model 53 in .25-20. According to the S/N it was made in 1925. We are wondering what the value is and if we do fond an interested party how does that work? I’ve heard lots of horror stories about shipping guns. Would we have to go through a dealer to ship it? What about the transfer of ownership? Anyway, obviously we have more questions than answers and thanks in advance for any info you might be able to share.

OfflineWhat is the serial number on the Model 53 rifle? With it, I can determine the exact date it was manufactured. Is it a Solid frame or a Take Down?
The value will greatly depend on the graded condition, and for that, we need to see several clear pictures of the rifle (front to back and both sides). If you can, email the pictures to me at – [email protected]
As for transferring the rifle to a buyer, that really depends on where (the state) you are located, and where the buyer is located. Each state has its own regulations, and you must abide by the regulations of both.

Thanks Bert. For some reason I am having difficulty sending the pics to your email. It appears there is some sort of lever at the end of the magazine tube. Does this indicate a takedown model? I will work on the pics.
Yes, that lever on the end of the mag tube does indicate that it is a Take Down.
I have no restrictions on my email account. I suspect that it is an issue with your email service provider. Try sending the pictures in small batches.
